Dr. Richard Tiberius has a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto. He is the director of the Educational Development Office in the Department of Medical Education and professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at University of Miami School of Medicine where he collaborates with medical faculty in designing and conducting educational research and faculty development activities. His scholarly work and consulting practice focuses on the improvement of the teaching and learning process, especially the role of the teacher-student relationship in learning. He has authored numerous journal articles, book chapters and books in US, Canadian, and British journals, and has conducted workshops and lectured throughout North America and Europe.

Dr. Chi Zhang has a Ph.D. in Technical Education from the Louisiana State University. He is the director of program evaluation in the Department of Medical Education, University of Miami School of Medicine where he develops and conducts evaluations for courses/modules, junior and senior clerkships, and other educational programs in the medical school. He collaborates with medical faculty as a consultant in research methodology and statistical analyses. His scholarly work includes assessment of accountability of educational programs and student learning styles. He has authored numerous journal articles and has presented papers at national and regional conferences.

Tanyika Stephenson is the Staff Associate for the office of Educational Development at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She has an Associate Degree from Alabama State University and is currently pursuing her Bachelors Degree. She provides support for the staff and faculty members of EDO.

Dr. Monica Broome is the Director of the new Communication Skills Program for University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Her interest is in physician patient communication. The scope of this program includes the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty development levels.
Dr. Broome completed a two year fellowship under the Director of Education Development in the Department of Medical Education, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During her fellowship she completed programs in the Macy Institute for Health Communication Curriculum Development and is certified faculty for the Institute for Healthcare Communication. Her scholarly work includes presentations and workshops nationally for the Association of American Medical Colleges, Society of General Internal Medicine, and Southern Group on Educational Affairs, and internationally for the European Association for Communication in Health Care and International Conference on Communication in Healthcare. She serves on the American College of Physicians Legislative Action Program for Health Care Reform, the Editorial Board of Medical Encounter, and Chaired the Committee on Communication and technology for the 2006 American Academy on Communication in Healthcare Annual Research and Teaching Forum. Dr. Broome has been nominated co-chair of the next International Conference on Communication in Healthcare to be held in the USA in Miami, October 2009.
Dr. Broome, formerly Dr. Harris, is an alumnus on the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. Her specialty is Internal Medicine for which she has received recognition and accolades from colleagues and patients, including a service award from the State of Virginia Department of Disabled American Veterans. She was the Founder and former Medical Director of the Women’s Veterans Comprehensive Health Program, in Hampton Virginia. Dr. Broome was selected as one of the representatives from the state of Florida to participate in a National Summit on Women’s Veterans Health Issues at the White House which resulted in a position paper for Congress. To continue her interest in promoting women's health, Dr. Broome currently serves on the Institutes for Women's Health Education/Academic Training Subcommittee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Yogi Hernandez Suarez is Associate Chief of Service of Ambulatory Medicine and Community Health for the Jackson Health System. Born and raised in New York City, she attended Swarthmore College where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in biochemistry. She attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. She was in private practice for ten years on Miami Beach before joining the faculty at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine five years ago. She joined the Jackson Health System in 2005 as Associate Medical Director of OB/GYN. She is presently a candidate for a Health Management/MBA at UM to be completed at the end of 2007. She is a Fellow in the Educational Development Office at UM and has completed course work towards a master in medical education at UIC. Dr. Hernandez Suarez is interested in the transfer of knowledge to clinical practice- specifically implementation strategies to effect change in the clinical behavior of seasoned practitioners. Her clinical areas of interest are challenging contraception and female sexual dysfunction. Research Fellow in Medical Education and Vice Chairman of Education, Department of Anesthesiology :

Dr. Albert Varon is Vice Chairman for Education in the Department of Anesthesiology and Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, where he also completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Varon is the Director of the Division of Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care at UM and Director of the Anesthesia Service at the Ryder Trauma Center. Dr. Varon is a Fellow of both the American College of Anesthesiologists and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He is also an associate examiner of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Varon is author of many book chapters, abstracts and peer reviewed publications in the areas of trauma, anesthesia, critical care, hemodynamic monitoring and resuscitation.
