Dr. Julie G. Nyquist

Julie G. Nyquist, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Medical Education within the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She directs the Master of Academic Medicine program and Is Chair of the department’s annual Innovations in Medical Education Conference for 2014. Dr. Nyquist joined the faculty in 1981, serves as program evaluator for the Medical Student curriculum within the medical school and serves on multiple curriculum committees. In the Master of Academic Medicine program she is the lead instructor for the Introduction to Academic Medicine course (ACMD 501) and Accreditation & Program Evaluation course (ACMD 514). She is also part of the team that teaches leadership (ACMD 502 and 503). Dr Nyquist has given over 550 workshops and presentation on topics related to teaching, evaluation, use of standardized patients, career development, research, and leadership to a variety of health care professions’ faculty members. From 1993 to 2001 she also served as the Director of Medical Education at Kern Medical Center, a regional training center in Bakersfield, California where she was in charge of coordinating all educational activities (undergraduate, graduate, CME and faculty development) within the medical center. Dr. Nyquist has been the author or co-author on 14 federally funded education-related grants. Her service activities have included: serving twice as President of the Medical Faculty Assembly (1991-92, 2001-02), Secretary General of the Academic Senate (2004-06), member Keck Faculty Appointment, Promotions and Tenure Committee (2005-2011), and member of the Board of Directors of the USC Credit Union (1993-2013), Vice Chair of Board (2007-2013). Dr. Nyquist received her doctorate in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University in 1981.
