Dr. Stanley J. Hamstra

Stan is currently Acting Assistant Dean of the Academy for Innovation in Medical Education (AIME) and Research Director of the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre. He is Course Director of the AIME/uOSSC Healthcare Education Scholars Program and is Editor of the Springer Book Series “Advances in Medical Education”. Stan is also a member of the Education Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a founding board member of the Canadian Network for Simulation in Healthcare. His research addresses the issue of fidelity in simulation and the use of simulators as assessment devices. He received his graduate degrees from York University in Toronto. Prior to coming to Ottawa, he was with the University of Toronto (1997-2005) and the University of Michigan (2005-2009).
