Dr. Richard Isaacson

A graduate of the accelerated 6-year B.A./M.D. program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine, Dr. Isaacson currently serves as Associate Chair for Education and Director of the Neurology Residency Program in the Department of Neurology, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, and his medical internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center of FL. Prior to joining UM, he served as Director of the Research Unit in Medical Education and Associate Medical Director of the Wien Center for Alzheimer’s disease at Mount Sinai. Dr. Isaacson is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Undergraduate Education Subcommittee, which makes national consensus recommendations for medical student education in Neurology, and serves as Chair of the working group in dementia. His practice-pattern-based curriculum development model and data set is used by the AAN for the ED-2 core curriculum in LCME-accredited schools. He has lectured at the 2007 ACGME Educational Conference, 2008 AAN Annual Meeting, and his research has been presented at meetings nationally and internationally.
