Allan Gyorke

Allan Gyorke is the Chief Academic Technology Officer at the University of Miami. His organization works with faculty to enhance teaching and learning through the appropriate use of current and emerging technologies. Before moving to the University of Miami in 2013, Allan worked for Penn State for 21 years in a variety of roles, including the creation of hybrid and online courses, the development of Penn State’s first MOOCs, flipped classroom projects, digital storytelling, game-based learning, learning management systems, learning space design, faculty development events, and the research and deployment of new technologies. Allan holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a master’s degree in Adult Education, both from Penn State. He is also a member of the Educause Learning Initiative’s writing team for the “7 Things You Should Know About…” series of white papers, a member of the Advisory Board for the New Media Consortium’s Horizon Report, a faculty member in Educause’s Learning Technology Leadership program, and a reviewer for the American Journal of Distance Education.
