Fellowship in Medical Education

Note: Sorry but we are not accepting new fellowships at the present time.

The Fellowship position for 1 year, renewable for a second year. The Fellowship is offered to trainees who have completed their postgraduate training in medicine or equivalent PhD and who wish to engage in educational research. The Fellowship in Educational Research offers advanced academic training in educational research methodology in such areas as Faculty Development, Evaluation, Knowledge Transfer, Organizational Development, and Program and Curriculum Development.

The Candidate will be expected to undertake specific educational research, and to produce scholarly works suitable for publication in (medical) education journals. At the end of the year of training the fellow will be able to formulate a specific research question in medical education, access and make use of relevant educational literature, design and implement scholarly research in pursuit of their question, analyze the results, and understand the relevance of their research to medical education.

A significant portion of the fellow’s time may be devoted to a formal graduate program (M.Ed.) in medical education, leading to a postgraduate degree. Completion of this fellowship, with its emphasis on scholarship in education, will prepare the applicant to take up major responsibilities for the design and improvement of medical education programs in various health science departments and other educational organizations around the world.

Applicants will be judged based on their demonstrated commitment to educational scholarship and their potential productivity in this field.

For the successful applicant that has not yet identified a specific supervisor for their work, the EDO leadership will assist you in determining the most appropriate match with a specific supervisor within the Program.
